Todd: Hey, Shantel, what do you do on the weekend (cuối tuần)?

Shantel: On the weekend, I wake up (thức dậy) and, first, I make breakfast (bữa sáng).

Todd: Oh, what do you make?

Shantel: I like to make toast (bánh mì nướng).

Todd: All right. I often eat toast, too.

Shantel: Do you put butter (bơ) on your toast?

Todd: I do. I put butter and jam (mứt).

Shantel: Ew, I love butter and jam on my toast.

Todd: Do you eat cereal (ngũ cốc)?

Shantel: No. I used to (đã từng), but not anymore (không còn nữa).

Todd: On the weekend, I don’t eat cereal. On the weekend, I cook a nice breakfast, but I eat cereal during (trong) the week. What else do you do on the weekend?

Shantel: Let’s see. After I eat breakfast, I clean the kitchen and make my bed (dọn giường). What about you?

Todd: I also clean my house. I clean my rooms. I vacuum (hút bụi). I wash the windows. I wash the dishes. I do my laundry (giặt giũ, giặt là). I do that on Saturday, but on Sunday, I have fun (chơi vui).

2. Thì hiện tại đơn (Present Simple) trong những câu sau đây được dùng để diễn tả một việc thường xảy ra hay một sự thật hiển nhiên:

(1) “I like to make toast” – “Tôi thích làm bánh mì nướng” => Đây là sở thích, thói quen ăn uống của tôi.

(2) “On the weekend, I wake up and, first, I make breakfast” – “Vào cuối tuần, tôi ngủ dậy và việc đầu tiên tôi làm là làm bữa sáng” => Đây là thói quen của tôi, việc tôi hay làm vào cuối tuần.

3. Trật tự từ ở ô (5) là “I often eat toast” thay vì “I eat often toast” vì các trạng từ chỉ tần suất (always, usually, often, sometimes, và never) phải đứng trước động từ trong câu (ở đây là động từ “eat”).
